Gender Project--Storyboard
------
Introduction:

Leisure Activity: Watching TV

Prior to the study I thought that watching TV was more to the men and to the women about the impact of gender on my leisure activity. (Refer to Edmodo response from Day 1 of study)

I thought this because: (Think about your life experiences, and what has been told to you in life through the media, societal norms, or other influences)
1) Both girls and boys can watch TV, it doesn't matter which gender you are.
2) Anyone can watch TV when ever they wants.
3) Watching TV is for everyone like some people can watch movies and others can watch dramas and etc.

Google:

In the news (Google searches)  I have seen men portrayed as: (in regards to my leisure activity)
Quote words, explain meaning
1) more time in watching TV, socializing or exercising (6.0 hours).
2) listening to music.
3) like to play video games.
4) relaxation.

In the news (Google Searches)  I have seen women portrayed as (in regards to my leisure activity)
Quote words, explain meaning
1) little time in watching TV, socializing or exercising (5.2 hours).
2) female viewers are looking for relaxation.
3) don’t like to play video games.
4) schedule for entertainment.

Out of the first 10 articles that appeared during the Google article search:
__5__/10 discussed mostly women participating in my leisure activity
__5__/10 discussed mostly men participating in my leisure activity

Analyze: I can make the following statements about the way gender is portrayed in the media in regards to my leisure activity.
1) I have learned from the article is that men watch TV more than women.
2) Men watch TV 6 hours and women watch TV 4 hours.
3) Men like to play video games and women don't like to play video games.

Google Image Search

Out of the images I looked at, the percentage of images showing women doing my leisure activity is little time watching TV 60%
Women were seen as: (in relation to your leisure activity)
1) crying.
2) watching cartoons.
3) watching comedy movie or laughing.

Here are examples to support my points (include at least 3 images-they should have been saved on a Google Drive document)

Here are examples to support my points (include at least 3 images-they should have been saved on a Google Drive document)

  1. Hi Masuma,

You did a great job with your storyboard! You have a lot of good research and information. The only thing I would add would be the three images for each gender. Great job!
